
(Senior) Project Engineer - Ship Building
About This Job :
Responsible for overseeing and managing various aspects of ship construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards. This role involves coordinating with multiple teams, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure that the shipbuilding process runs smoothly from the initial design phase through to delivery.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for shipbuilding projects.
- Define project milestones and ensure the timely delivery of each phase of construction.
- Coordinate with the design, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure smooth execution.
- Work closely with naval architects, marine engineers, and other design teams to ensure that the ship's design meets both the client’s requirements and regulatory standards.
- Review and approve design changes or modifications to ensure they align with project timelines and budgets
- Monitor project expenses and ensure that the project stays within the approved budget.
- Review and approve any additional costs or change orders and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures where possible.
- Ensure that the ship is built according to industry standards and regulatory requirements, including international maritime regulations and environmental standards.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks at various stages of construction to ensure the vessel meets safety, performance, and design specifications.
- Identify potential risks or issues that could affect the project’s timeline, cost, or quality and take steps to mitigate those risks.
- Resolve technical or operational problems that may arise during construction, working with engineering teams to develop solutions.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all stakeholders, including clients, senior management, and regulatory bodies.
- Prepare and present progress reports, cost reports, and other documentation to ensure transparency and effective communication throughout the project.
- Facilitate regular project meetings to ensure all parties are aligned and any issues are addressed promptly.
- Oversee the final stages of the shipbuilding project, ensuring that all systems and components are tested and functional.
- Conduct final inspections and coordinate the handover of the completed vessel to the client.
- Ensure all documentation, including warranties and maintenance schedules, is provided to the client at the time of delivery.
Requirements :
- Degree or Diploma in Naval Architecture / Civil / Marine and Offshore / Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering.
At least 2 years of relevant working experience
