QA/QC Manager - Ship building

This person will start off and implement the quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes to ensure that the final product meets all required standards and regulations.

• Quality Management System (QMS): Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System to ensure that all shipbuilding projects meet specified requirements.
• Inspection and Testing: Oversee the inspection and testing of materials, components, and finished ships to verify compliance with safety standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all shipbuilding activities comply with international standards (such as ISO, ASME, and others), client specifications, and local regulations.
• Audits and Inspections: Conduct internal and external audits to assess the effectiveness of the quality system and identify areas for improvement.
• Team Management: Lead and manage the QA/QC team, ensuring that quality inspectors and technicians are adequately trained and equipped to perform their tasks effectively.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders, including senior management and clients.
• Non-Conformance Management: Identify and document any non-conformances or defects in the shipbuilding process, and work with relevant teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Supplier and Subcontractor Management: Ensure that suppliers and subcontractors comply with quality standards by monitoring their performance and conducting periodic reviews.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives aimed at improving the quality processes, reducing defects, and enhancing the overall efficiency of the shipbuilding process.
• Training and Development: Provide ongoing training to QA/QC team members to keep them updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and new quality assurance tools.
• Customer Relations: Collaborate with customers to ensure their requirements are understood and met, addressing any quality-related issues that arise.

Requirements :

• Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
• Deep understanding of shipbuilding processes, materials, and construction standards (e.g., welding, coatings, hull construction, electrical systems, etc.). Familiarity with industry codes and regulations (e.g., ABS, DNV, BV, ISO 9001).
• Familiarity with digital tools and software related to QA/QC management (e.g., ERP systems, quality control software).
• Certifications in welding inspection (e.g., AWS, CSWIP) or other specialized shipbuilding quality areas.
• Previous experience working on large-scale shipbuilding or maritime projects.
