
Senior System Engineer (Transportation) - Communication Systems
Duration: 12 months (Renewable)
Working Hours: 5 days
Working Location: Ang Mo Kio
Roles and Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to project engineers across all project phases, from design and planning to implementation and maintenance.
- Oversee the technical aspects of all subsystems, ensuring their integration and interoperability.
- Guide the project engineers to develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, design specifications, and test plans.
Project Management:
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of technical deliverables.
- Monitor project progress, identify and resolve technical challenges proactively.
- Manage technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, e.g., LTA, SMRT, SBS, etc.
- Effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Guide, support and represent project engineers in technical meetings and presentations
Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure adherence to technical standards and best practices.
Quality Assurance:
- Oversee quality control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Guide and support project engineers to conduct system testing and commissioning activities.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues promptly and effectively.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex communication systems, preferably within the transportation sector.
- Understanding of telecommunications principles, including radio, data, transmission and video, etc.
- Knowledge of network technologies (e.g., E1, SDH, Ethernet, TCP/IP, etc).
- Experience with at least 5 of the following subsystems: video surveillance, access control, telephony, radio, clock systems, public addressing, communication networks, TCP/IP networks, power supply, and IT security.
- Familiarity with LTA projects is an advantage.

- Project Management Skills: Ability to work with project directors/managers on complex projects, meet deadlines, and deliver projects within budget.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Good written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Proven leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of more than 20 engineers.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical challenges effectively.
