Job requirements:
- Bilingual in English & Chinese, to communicate with Mandarin speaking staff.
- Diploma in Early Childhood (L2)
- Comfortable with children.
Job descriptions:
- Teaching English Language Skills: Introducing young children to basic English vocabulary, pronunciation, and simple sentence structures. Encouraging speaking and listening skills through songs, games, stories, and everyday conversations. Teaching reading readiness skills, such as letter recognition, phonics, and basic comprehension.
- Creating Lesson Plans: Designing age-appropriate lesson plans that align with the preschool curriculum.
Integrating a variety of activities (arts and crafts, music, role play) to reinforce language learning and cognitive development. - Developing Social and Emotional Skills: Teaching children basic social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and expressing themselves in a respectful way. Helping children develop self-regulation and emotional intelligence.
- Monitoring Development: Observing each child's progress and identifying areas of need or concern in their language, cognitive, or social development. Keeping detailed records of children's progress, including strengths and areas for improvement.
- Creating a Safe and Engaging Environment: Maintaining a clean, safe, and stimulating classroom environment. Ensuring that children are supervised at all times and that their physical and emotional well-being is prioritized.
- Building Positive Relationships with Parents: Communicating regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress and areas for growth. Providing suggestions for home activities that support language development.
- Encouraging Creativity and Exploration: Organizing interactive, creative activities that foster children’s imagination and problem-solving skills. Using toys, books, and materials to engage children in hands-on learning experiences.
- Supporting Multicultural Understanding: Introducing children to diverse cultural backgrounds through stories, music, and activities that promote inclusion and understanding.
- Adapting to Individual Needs: Tailoring teaching methods to meet the individual needs of children, including those who may have special learning requirements or language barriers.
- Promoting Literacy and Numeracy Foundations: While the focus is on language development, preschool teachers may also introduce basic math concepts through play and everyday experiences.
