JOB OVERVIEW

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician / Engineer / Senior Engineer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electrical and instrumentation systems used in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. This role ensures equipment reliability, compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, instrumentation, and control equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and instrumentation faults in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure optimal performance of critical systems, such as HVAC, temperature controls, flow meters, pressure sensors, and PLC/SCADA systems.

2. Calibration and Documentation

  • Conduct routine calibration of instruments to meet GMP and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of calibration, maintenance, and repair activities for audits and compliance requirements.

3. Installation and Commissioning

  • Assist with the installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Verify system performance and integration with manufacturing processes.

4. Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental (SHE) protocols during work activities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including GMP, HSE, and company-specific guidelines.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective measures when needed.

5. Technical Support and Continuous Improvement

  • Provide technical support to production and engineering teams to address system-related issues.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and energy efficiency.

6. Emergency Response

  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and critical failures to minimize disruptions.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance, preferably in the pharmaceutical or related industries.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting PLCs, SCADA systems, and DCS systems.
  • Knowledge of GMP, pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with calibration tools and electrical testing equipment.
  • Understanding of electrical wiring, schematic diagrams, and instrumentation loop diagrams.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to work in rotating shifts and respond to emergencies.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and protocols in industrial settings.
