
Drafter and Safety Coordinator

We are currently seeking a skilled Drafter and Safety Coordinator to join our team. This dual-role position will support both the drafting and design aspects of our projects, as well as ensure safety protocols and compliance are met on-site.
Job Description:
As a Drafter and Safety Coordinator, your responsibilities will include the following:
Drawings and Drafting:
- 2D/3D Construction Drawings: Create and modify 2D and 3D construction drawings, including site plans, floor plans, sections, and elevations.
- Accuracy & Specifications: Ensure that all drawings are accurate and adhere to project specifications, taking into account the design intent, materials, and construction methods.
- Shop Drawings: Prepare detailed shop drawings as required for the fabrication and assembly of construction components.
Documentation:
- Organizing Drawings: Maintain an organized system for all drawings throughout the various phases of the project. This includes ensuring timely updates and revisions as necessary.
Coordination:
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with engineers, architects, and site managers to ensure drawings are updated and adjusted as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
Quality Control:
- Compliance with Standards: Ensure that all drawings comply with applicable construction codes, standards, and regulations. Regularly check for accuracy and quality throughout the drafting process.
Site Inspections:
- Conduct Site Visits: Perform site inspections to verify that the construction is in line with the drawings and specifications.
- Report Findings: Document and report any discrepancies or issues discovered during site visits, and collaborate with the team to enforce corrective actions as necessary.
Incident Management:
- Investigate Incidents: Investigate on-site safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend strategies to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Training and Awareness:
- Conduct Safety Training: If necessary, provide safety training to workers, focusing on construction-specific risks and safe work practices. Ensure the workforce is aware of safety protocols on-site.
Compliance and Reporting:
- OSHA and Local Standards Compliance: Ensure that the project site is in full compliance with OSHA and local construction safety standards.
- Safety Performance Reporting: Prepare and submit safety performance and compliance reports as required by management or regulatory bodies.
- Risk Assessments and SWPs: Conduct regular risk assessments, maintain Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), and keep track of worker lists for safety management purposes.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Drafter or in a similar drafting role, with a strong portfolio of construction-related drawings (2D/3D).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or other drafting software (Revit, SketchUp, etc.).
- Experience in safety coordination or construction safety management.
- Knowledge of construction codes, safety standards, and OSHA regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both a team and independent setting.
- Relevant certification in Safety Management or Safety Coordination is a plus.
