Senior Industrial Designer

Position Overview:

As a Senior Industrial Designer at TVS Motor, you will be responsible for developing innovative designs for motorbikes, apparel, and accessories that align with the company's brand vision and market needs for the ASEAN market. Your expertise will be critical in creating concept sketches, developing industrial design concepts, and validating prototypes for the motorcycle and accessory lines. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring ideas to life and ensure that designs meet technical, aesthetic, and functional requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Concept Design Development

• Lead the creation of concept design for TVSM product line that includes motorcycles, scooters & 3W, translating ideas into functional, aesthetically appealing, and marketable designs for the market.
• Develop industrial design concepts for apparel, and accessories, from initial ideation through to final concept approval.
• Create 3D models and prototypes, collaborating with engineers to ensure feasibility and manufacturability of designs.

2. Product Validation and Sourcing

• Collaborate with the supply chain, manufacturing and engineering teams to validate design concepts through prototyping, testing, and iteration.
• Assist in sourcing materials and components for designs, working closely with suppliers to ensure quality and compatibility with the design vision.
• Oversee the prototype testing phase, gathering feedback and refining designs based on real-world use and production capabilities.

3. Design Realization and Execution

• Ensure that designs are realized to the highest quality standards, considering both aesthetic and functional factors.
• Provide input on the technical specifications and support the finalization of design documents for production.
• Ensure that designs align with the company’s brand identity, staying current with market trends and incorporating innovative, user-focused elements into your work.

4. Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, marketers, and suppliers, to ensure design concepts are feasible, practical, and well-integrated with other vehicle systems or products.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure that design concepts can be efficiently produced and assembled.
• Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions, providing creative solutions and refining concepts based on feedback.

5. Research and Trend Analysis

• Stay up to date with the latest trends in motorcycle design, apparel, accessory design, and consumer preferences.
• Conduct market research to ensure the products you design are aligned with current consumer expectations and emerging trends.
• Provide insights into future design trends, helping the company stay ahead in a competitive market.

Requirements:

Educational Qualification:

• Master’s degree in Design and Transport or related fields.

Work Experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in industrial design, specifically in motorcycle, scooter design or automotive-related products (e.g., apparel, accessories).
• A portfolio demonstrating experience in concept sketching, design development, and successful design execution.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in 3D modeling software (e.g., Rhino, Alias, SolidWorks) and design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
• Familiarity with material sourcing, prototyping, and validation techniques.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability principles.

Soft Skills:

• Strong conceptual thinking and creativity with attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Time management skills and the ability to work on multiple design projects simultaneously.
• Good communication skills for presenting ideas, sharing insights, and engaging with both internal teams and external partners.
