Chemist/Chemical Laboratory Technician (Civil Engineering Focus/West]

Job Description:

• Conduct testing of construction materials at the Engineering Materials Laboratory, including physical tests on materials such as cement, sand, and aggregates. Prepare and verify test reports.
• Manage and organize workloads efficiently and promptly.
• Supervise staff performance to ensure tasks are completed in an orderly and timely manner.
• Apply relevant standards to specific testing requirements and demonstrate expertise in their use.
• Maintain job records and generate routine reports.
• Ensure staff are properly trained and competent for their assigned responsibilities.
• Conduct research and development on new testing methodologies.
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and testing facilities based on literature and published standards.
• Oversee the procurement of testing tools, equipment, and instruments.
• Demonstrate materials testing processes to customers or assessors.
• Perform daily testing and prepare corresponding test reports.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
• Field of Study: Materials Science or related discipline.
