Job Summary:

The Trademark Paralegal will support attorneys in handling trademark prosecution, enforcement, and portfolio management. The role involves conducting trademark searches, preparing applications, managing deadlines, and assisting with litigation and administrative proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

Trademark Prosecution & Maintenance:

• Prepare and file trademark applications (U.S. and international).

• Monitor and manage trademark portfolios, including renewals and maintenance filings.

• Correspond with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and international trademark offices.

• Assist with responses to office actions and oppositions.

Trademark Searches & Clearance:

• Conduct preliminary and comprehensive trademark searches.

• Analyze search results and prepare reports for attorney review.

• Monitor third-party trademark applications for potential conflicts.

• Trademark Enforcement & Litigation Support:

• Assist with cease and desist letters and enforcement actions.

• Maintain evidence of use and monitor potential trademark infringements.

• Support litigation matters, including drafting pleadings and discovery requests.

Trademark Docketing & Portfolio Management:

• Maintain trademark docketing system, ensuring deadlines are met.

• Track filing and renewal deadlines, opposition periods, and enforcement actions.

• Prepare and manage licensing agreements, assignments, and other IP-related contracts.

Client & Internal Communication:

• Communicate with clients, attorneys, and government agencies regarding trademark matters.

• Provide updates and reports on trademark filings, deadlines, and risks.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal certification preferred.

• 2+ years of experience in trademark law, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department.

• Strong understanding of USPTO and international trademark procedures.

• Experience with trademark docketing systems (e.g., CPI, WebTMS).

• Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate with attorneys and clients.
