Job Description
- Perform routine and complex analytical tests on human body fluids and tissues to provide accurate data for optimal diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of disease states.
- Perform routine laboratory test procedures as outlined in the established SOPs and according to MOH regulations, ISO and CAP accreditation. Adhere to quality assurance and quality control procedures in performing all testing.
- Correlate clinical information and/or previous lab results and reports discrepancies to HOD.
- Consult with HOD when no preset criteria for decision making are available before taking action
- Participate in developmental work on new tests
- Participate in established TQM activities, QC testing of lab reagents and maintenance of equipment.
- Attend and participates in continuing education programs to monitor proficiency, expand current knowledge and enhance professional excellence.
- Collection of blood specimens from patients, including infants and children via venipuncture, finger prick or heel prick methods
- Ensure patient identification matches official document and patient compliance with test requirement
- Strictly observe pre-blood collection, blood collection and post blood collection procedure
- Assist to sort and label the blood specimens for lab test processing
- Provide good service quality and customer satisfaction
- Monitor and manage the inventory of medical supplies stocked and utilised by the phlebotomy team and self
- Maintain clean and hygienic work environment
- Perform other ad hoc job tasks or projects as assigned by superior
Job requirements:
- Minimum Diploma in Biomedical Science/ Medical Technology or relevant course of study
- Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in a hospital or diagnostic lab environment.
- Various departments for placement: Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular, Serology, etc.
- Computer literate, basic knowledge & skills in ULTRA LIS will be an added advantage
- Team player with positive working and learning attitude, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Certificate in Phlebotomy
- Minimum 1 years' of relevant hands-on phlebotomy experience
- Willing to work 5.5 days work week (Including weekends)
- Willing to travel and work in outpatient and project settings
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
- Team player, responsible, positive, diligent, multi-tasking, caring, attentive and compassionate
