Engineering Research Manager (Construction)
Roles & Responsibilities
· Lead and Manage Research Teams: Direct and mentor a team of engineers and researchers focused on innovative construction technologies and solutions.
· Develop Research Plans: Create and execute research and development plans and roadmaps, aligning with organisational goals.
· Identify and Evaluate Technologies: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and competitiveness.
· Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and direction to team members, ensuring high-quality outputs to improve company’s digital ecosystem, software and technologies.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with other departments and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
· Communicate Findings: Present research findings and recommendations to internal and external audiences.
· Manage External Relationships: Oversee relationships with vendors, contractors, and external partners.
· Project Management: Plan, implement, and manage research projects, including coordinating development of project scope, goals, work plans, timelines, and strategies.
· Design and Implement Prototypes: Design and implement experimental prototypes to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of new methodologies.
· Translate Research into Applications: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate research findings into practical applications for projects and corporate functions.
· Building prototypes, products, and systems for testing.
· Design testing procedures and coordinate to identify problems and solutions.
· Collaborating on standards for procedures and component requirements.
Qualifications and requirements
· Minimum PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or a related field.
· 3-5 years’ work experience in computer engineering/science research in a leadership role; relevance to construction industry will be an advantage.
· Strong understanding of deep learning, neural networks, and techniques for 3D object detection and tracking.
· Familiarity with AI frameworks and cloud platforms.
· Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
