Chief Engineer
To manage and direct engineering department in the smooth and efficient delivery of operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of all engineering systems and plants in the Hotel under the direction of General Manager and within the guidelines and requirement of authorities, Sheraton Towers and Marriott.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure that the Hotel's policy & procedure and Marriott's guidelines are followed and implemented accordingly.
• Ensure that all statutory requirements and regulations pertaining to engineering practices and related codes of practices are adhered and compliance inclusive employment practices.
• Ensure effective communication between the management and the department and to provide a professional, advisory and executive support service to the General Manager to assist in formulating strategic goals and plan.
• Establish and maintain good working relationship with local contractors who will provide repair and maintenance service especially during emergency breakdown of the systems.
• Make recommendation to management and approve special capital budget to include all changes, replacement and upgrade of equipment as and when required.
• Manage a cost effective operating budget to cover cost of all maintenance, utilities within the financial parameters set by the hotel budget.
• Monitor, control and track all operating expenses and analyse budget variations and made remedial action.
• Develop, implement and maintain work order system to address routine repairs. Work order procedures developed must address requesting work, reporting work, recording, assignment planning, scheduling, execution, follow up, communication / feedback of work done and historical record keeping.
• Develop, implement and maintain a preventive maintenance program on all systems, plants, public spaces and various architectural features. Program to ensure operation of property is safe, effective and efficient.
• Maintain up to date records on preventive maintenance programs pertaining to all systems, plants and equipment.
• Maintain proper purchase order tracking and control procedures.
• Maintain spare parts, materials and supplies inventory control system so as to allow adequate lead times with adequate minimum inventory stock levels for procurement to achieve minimum down time and economical prices. Items must be administered and controlled and may be accounted for in budget control procedures.
• Develop, implement and maintain energy conservation, tracking program so as to minimum utility expenses.
• Review and negotiate where applicable with service provider on the service contracts in our areas of responsibilities.
• Maintain an up-to-date record of all technical drawings, manuals, administrative files, etc.
• Spearhead all sustainability initiatives and programme for the Hotel.
• Oversee all renovation projects of the Hotel, if any.
• Perform other ad-hoc tasks and duties as assigned by General Manager
