Electrical Design Manager (Data Centre)

The Role

• Develop next-generation Mission Critical Systems to align with the company’s long-term strategies.
• Design concept Critical Data Centre equipment focusing on Electrical Power Systems, including EHT Transformer, Switch Bay, Ring Main Unit, and Transformers.
• Ensure concept designs meet or exceed quality requirements while staying within budget and achieving energy efficiency targets.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, regional vendors, and manufacturers to define appropriate electrical systems for both upstream and downstream infrastructure.
• Lead Data Centre electrical designs and coordinate with other disciplines to create construction documentation.
• Utilize electrical engineering expertise to interpret and work with SLDs, electrical distribution layouts, and equipment specifications while coordinating with commissioning teams.
• Continuously explore new engineering systems and technologies to enhance performance, reduce energy and water consumption, increase operational efficiency, and lower total cost of ownership.
• Work with the Energy and Sustainability team to assess system design and equipment selection, ensuring high operational efficiency with low energy and water consumption to drive reduced PUE and WUE across all Data Centres.

The Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• At least 5 years of M&E design experience in a Mission Critical Data Centre environment.
• Strong understanding of electrical power systems, load flow analysis, fault protection, and industry regulations.
• Ability to perform complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions and present findings to management.
• Experience managing electrical power system design from concept through detailed design, procurement, bidding, manufacturing, and installation.
• Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects across different geographical regions.
• Willingness to travel overseas for Data Centre construction and implementation.
• Knowledge of large-scale mission-critical facility M&E infrastructure systems with a creative approach to cost reduction while maintaining quality and reliability.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of management.
• Experience working on fast-track design/build projects.
