Responsibilities:
- Perform histological testing encompassing sample accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and re-embedding of tissue specimens.
- Perform routine H&E stain, special stains as well as immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in-situ hybridization (ISH) stains according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform slide scanning and macrodissection as required according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Evaluate sample acceptability based on established guidelines and process specimens for analysis in accordance with established written procedures.
- Accurately evaluate test results according to standardized protocols.
- Maintain quality control measures during testing to ensure compliance with established quality standards. Document corrective and preventative actions with good documentation practices.
- Maintain overview of reagent inventory.
- Assist in the proper maintenance and servicing of laboratory equipment in line with manufacturer specifications and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in internal and external quality assessment as required.
- Comply with good laboratory practices for all procedures in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a biomedical or biological science from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 2 years of working experience in a clinical histology laboratory will be preferred.
- Good analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Able to work independently as well as a good team player with initiative and adaptability to change.
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
