Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. This joint research project is between Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Imperial College Global Singapore (IGS). The objective of the research is to overcome the challenges related to the use of ammonia in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) so that SOFCs can effectively use the energy potential of ammonia and maintain a high level of performance and durability in the long term.
We are looking for two (2) Research Fellows to perform the research activities in the project. The role will focus on development of direct ammonia solid oxide fuel cells.

This joint research project is between Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Imperial College Global Singapore (IGS). The objective of the research is to overcome the challenges related to the use of ammonia in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) so that SOFCs can effectively use the energy potential of ammonia and maintain a high level of performance and durability in the long term.
We are looking for two (2) Research Fellows to perform the research activities in the project. The role will focus on development of direct ammonia solid oxide fuel cells.
Key Responsibilities:
- Literature review of SOFCs and the preparation methods
- Synthesis, fabricate and evaluate the performance of SOFCs using ammonia as a feedstock
- Perform material characterization of the SOFC cells
- Perform studies to understand the fundamental mechanism and reactions in the SOFCs
- Prepare reports and presentations for meetings, progress reports and conferences
- Any other tasks as requested by the Investigator
Job Requirements:
- PhD in engineering or relevant discipline
- Demonstrated strong knowledge in the field of solid oxide fuel cells with publications in scientific journals
- Preferably with experience in fabricating solid oxide fuel cell stack
- Able to work independently to achieve the research milestones and tasks given
- Good proficiency in English for research purposes
