Secretlab’s Global Trade Compliance team is an integral part of our supply chain. The team contributes to Secretlab’s success by enabling it to navigate the complexities of international trade responsibly, efficiently and effectively. The team supports the efficient, on-time clearance of Secretlab products and develops resilient duty optimisation strategies to drive success, all the while maintaining Secretlab’s status as a trustworthy operator.

The Global Trade Compliance Specialist is a key role that will support the team with important trade compliance and optimisation functions related to product classification, free trade agreements, customs valuation, and audits. This is a truly global role that covers North America, Europe, North Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the company's day-to-day trade activities are being carried out efficiently, timely and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and the company’s processes.
  • Support in the classification of Harmonized System (HS) codes for the company’s products.
  • Support operational teams on trade and customs issues such as origin determination, and customs valuation.
  • Perform import and export compliance reviews and post-entry audits, and work with the team and internal stakeholders to address potential non-compliance or issues of concern.
  • Assist with training of Secretlab’s internal teams and, if appropriate, Secretlab’s vendors.
  • Work with the team on initiatives relating to compliance improvements, operational efficiencies, and duty optimisation.
  • Manage communications with vendors.
  • Support the operationalisation and maintenance of the company’s trade compliance program and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience dealing with trade and customs matters.
  • Knowledge of customs laws and regulations (the US and EU being priorities), the HS and the General Interpretative Rules.
  • Strong analytical/investigative skills and a proven work ethic with a desire to do more than is expected.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets combined with the ability to analyse and manipulate large and complex data sets and distill that information into concise summaries.
  • A strong interest in geopolitics.
  • A genuine interest in building authentic relationships across different departments and teams. The Global Trade Compliance team is expected to be visible and constantly educate Secretlab colleagues about the risks and opportunities posed by global trade.
  • Position requires onsite work at the company’s headquarters in Singapore. If not local to Singapore, you must be willing to relocate.

  • Customs broker license, customs declarant certification, or other equivalent certifications.
