Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Envionmental Health & Safety Specialist to join the Starline team in Tuas, Singapore.
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist will develop, implement and manage comprehensive environmental, health and safety programs to ensure compliance with local regulations and organization standards. This role will require the partnership with Global EHS Team and local stakeholders to drive local programs in attaining EHS sustainability within the workplace.
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures in line with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standard
- Partner with the Global EHS team to align local programs with corporate EHS initiatives and management systems.
- Interpret and implement compliance on applicable legislative requirements, Singapore Standards, Codes of Practice, and other relevant regulations.
- Support licensing application and renewal process with relevant local authorities.
- Lead risk assessments and hazard analyses exercise to identify potential safety, health and environmental risks.
- Facilitate risk mitigation strategies and control measures to minimize identified hazards.
- Investigate accidents, dangerous occurrences, and occupational diseases.
- Determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Deliver EHS training programs to employees and contractors, ensuring awareness and compliance.
- Conduct regular factory inspection to ensure conformance to legislative requirement and organization standards.
- Participate in the scheduled ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits.
- Manage non-conformance investigations and ensure timely closure of identified gaps.
- Oversee contractor activities during in-house and shutdown maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with EHS standards.
- Stay abreast of new safety technologies and innovative practices to enhance the EHS program.
- Organize EHS safety campaigns to promote awareness.
- Assist in the implementation of environmental practices, including waste management, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.
- Conduct environmental aspect & impact assessments and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Additional duties as required by management
Qualifications:
- Minimum Diploma or equivalent required
- Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with the Ministry of Manpower / Coordinator with minimum 3 years of experience in EHS management within a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Internal Auditor of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 Management Systems
- Certified Occupational First Aid preferred
- Ability to host and present safety topics to large groups
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage and influence stakeholders
- This position will have exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required
- Ability to stand, bend and walk for extended periods of time
- Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently
