Job Scope
As a General Manager, Ship Management and Services, the role involves driving business growth, managing operations, and leading a team to deliver high-quality maritime services. You will oversee strategic planning, explore new business opportunities, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full accountability for the P&L of the business unit, ensuring financial health and growth by managing budget forecasts.
- Identify and secure new business prospects, while nurturing and expanding current client relationships, particularly in maritime technical services like ship repairs, docking and retrofitting.
- Spearhead business development initiatives by engaging with key clients and suppliers, leading global sales, and commercial efforts.
- Provide oversight in maritime technical services to ensure top-tier execution of ship repairs, dry docking, retrofitting, and conversion projects.
- Manage vendor selection, contract negotiations, and procurement to achieve cost-effective and high-quality outcomes.
- Implement predictive maintenance technologies and condition monitoring systems to improve vessel reliability and operational efficiency.
- Supervise ongoing project operations, collaborating with internal project managers and engineers to continuously enhance service delivery.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including General Managers, Vessel Managers, and Fleet Managers, to drive internal service implementation and business growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Maritime, Marine Engineering or any related discipline is a plus.
- More than 10 years of experience in the maritime industry looking at ship and technical management is a plus.
- More than 5 years of people management experience is highly advantageous.
- Experience in project management, ship construction, refurbishment or repair is highly advantageous.
