Job Title: Sales Engineer – Solar & Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
Reports To: Sales Manager/Head of Business Development
Job Summary:
The Sales Engineer will drive revenue growth by identifying business opportunities, providing technical expertise, and delivering tailored renewable energy solutions involving Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role requires a deep understanding of renewable energy systems, a proactive approach to client management, and the ability to bridge technical and commercial aspects of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales and Business Development:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to promote Solar PV and BESS solutions in target markets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities for commercial and industrial clients, including greenfield projects, retrofits, and energy storage enhancements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and other key stakeholders in the renewable energy sector.
2. Technical Consultation:
- Provide technical guidance on system design, feasibility assessments, and performance optimization for Solar PV and BESS solutions.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to prepare customized proposals and solutions that meet client requirements and regulatory standards.
- Conduct site assessments, technical evaluations, and ROI analyses for proposed projects.
3. Project Support:
- Assist in project lifecycle management, including system configuration, cost estimation, and technical documentation.
- Ensure smooth handover of projects to the execution team, maintaining a focus on client satisfaction.
4. Market and Industry Engagement:
- Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and regulations in the renewable energy and energy storage markets.
- Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and technical forums to enhance brand visibility and network with industry leaders.
5. Proposal Development and Negotiation:
- Prepare and deliver high-quality technical and commercial proposals, ensuring alignment with client needs and budgetary constraints.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve mutually beneficial agreements.
6. After-Sales Support:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for deployed systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
- Facilitate warranty claims and maintenance agreements for Solar PV and BESS installations.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or technical roles in the Solar PV or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) industry.
- Proven track record in successfully securing and managing renewable energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy systems, power electronics, and energy storage technologies.
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and certifications (e.g., IEC, UL, ISO, etc.).
Skills and Competencies:
- Technical Expertise: In-depth understanding of Solar PV and BESS components, system integration, and grid interconnection requirements.
- Sales Acumen: Ability to build rapport with clients, close deals, and meet sales targets.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address client challenges effectively.
- Project Management: Proficiency in planning, coordinating, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Proficiency in Tools: Familiarity with design tools (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD), CRM software, and power system analysis tools.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience working in Southeast Asia or other emerging markets.
- Knowledge of financial modeling for renewable energy projects, including PPA structures and LCOE calculations.
- Certifications in renewable energy systems (e.g., NABCEP, GSES) are an added advantage.
