The functional role is responsible for delivering business requirements for the trading business as well as contributing to the development of analytics capabilities through technical initiatives. This encompasses designing data integration solutions, implementing enhancements, and driving new developments.Position OverviewKey responsibilities
- Collaborate with traders and analysts to understand their needs and requirements, offering technical expertise and solutions to enhance trading efficiency.
- Develop and maintain automated tools and scripts to streamline trade execution processes and improve operational effectiveness.
- Perform data collection, cleaning, and analysis tasks to derive actionable insights from trading data, market trends, and other relevant sources.
- Utilize statistical methods and data visualization techniques to communicate findings effectively and support decision-making processes.
- To liaise with both internal IT teams to build/maintain custom applications for data retrieval, develop AI/ML modelling and reporting dashboards.
- To assist in Commercial IT trading Energy Trading and Risk Management systems and other applications support.
- Ensuring all Information Security policies, procedures and standards are applied.
- May be required to attend meetings and work with global teams outside of working hours.
- Bachelor’s degree in related quantitative discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering).
- Experience in Application Systems development/support.
- Experience in several of the following skill clusters:
- Strong programming skills in Python programming, VBA, .Net and other languages.
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., pandas, PowerBI, Spotfire) and experience working with large datasets.
- Data retrieval – proficient with SQL, REST APIs.
- Data wrangling and ETL – knowledge with pandas or similar; informatica or similar.
- Classical machine learning – knowledge with scikit-learn or similar.
- Deep learning – knowledge with TensorFlow and/or PyTorch.
- Databases – knowledge of connectivity to various data sources such as Snowflake, and SQL Server.
- Some hands-on experience of AWS, Azure, GCP or other public cloud environment.
- Strong problem-solving and quantitative computational ability, and strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with incomplete or imperfect data.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Team player and ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
- 3-5 years as Analyst with hands-on experience in data science and machine learning.
- Proven experience in supporting trade floor operations and familiarity with trading systems and technologies (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, FIX protocol).
- Prior experience in an Oil/Gas/LNG trading setting would be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of mathematical/statistical foundations of machine learning.
