About The Role

We are seeking a Fibre Optics Instrumentation Manager to lead the development, implementation, and management of fibre-optic instrumentation systems for geotechnical and asset monitoring. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic and growing industry.

Job Responsibilities

  • System Development & Testing:
    • Develop and test fibre-optics geotechnical instrumentation systems, including deployment, calibration, and verification.
  • Business Strategy:
    • Develop and implement business plans, including market analysis, growth strategies, sales projections, and budgeting for fibre-optic instrumentation and asset monitoring
  • Project Leadership:
    • Oversee project operations, including planning, scheduling, scope management, and budgeting for fibre-optics initiatives.
  • Technical Support:
    • Provide ongoing technical support to systems after commissioning and troubleshoot issues related to optical nodes and instruments.
  • Product Development & Promotion:
    • Develop and promote fibre-optic products and services to existing and potential clients.
  • Stakeholder Liaison:
    • Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors to define project requirements, responsibilities, and restrictions.
  • Strategic Partnerships:
    • Identify and establish partnerships with complementary service providers and fibre-optics manufacturers, both locally and internationally.
Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience in geotechnical instrumentation with fibre-optics.
  • Strong knowledge of fibre-optic technologies and systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical instrumentation works and emerging technologies in the field.

Requirements

  • Educational Background:
    • A degree in Civil, Fibre Optics, Geotechnical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Professional Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring projects using fibre-optic technology and asset monitoring
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Understanding of key fibre-optic mechanisms and technologies, including:
      • Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG)
      • Stimulated Brillouin Scattering
      • Raman Scattering
      • Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing Technology
      • Brillouin Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (BOTDR)
      • Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analysis (BOTDA)
