OIE is also responsible for building an ecosystem of entrepreneurship at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre.The Business Development and Industry Alliances (BDIA) function in OIE explores and establishes new industry partnerships and investor relationships, and supports and expands existing relationships. We are seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in facilitating collaboration between various departments, managing data, and contributing to industry relationship efforts. This position requires close coordination with OIE's Centre for Technology and Development (CTeD), Contracts & Industry Engagement (CIE) department, Duke-NUS faculties, and external stakeholders.Key areas of focus for this role are:
- Contribute to developing a strategy and workplan for growing the amount of support for research and innovation that arises from industry collaborations.
- Identify and pursue new outreach opportunities while actively engaging with industry stakeholders, investors, and potential partners to promote Duke-NUS's research capabilities and establish strategic collaborations.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Duke-NUS researchers and external partners, ensuring alignment in objectives, expectations, and timelines.
- Oversee ongoing projects with private sector partner and facilitate discussions toward formal agreements.
- Prioritize and manage new industry engagement requests for interactions between private sector partners and researchers.
- Conduct market research to identify industry trends, emerging biotech/investment opportunities, and potential areas for strategic partnerships.
- Support faculty in preparing proposals for industry-sponsored research and keep them informed about relevant industry grant funding opportunities.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and updates for senior leadership on BDIA activities, progress, and impact.
- Continuously enhance and refine processes within BDIA to ensure a more structured and efficient approach to industry engagement and partnership development.
- Keep in-tuned with the School's research by reviewing available information materials and meeting with researchers as needed.
- Manage end-to-end organisation of company meetings, follow-ups, and liaise with other units in OIE on developing contractual agreements with our researchers in a timely and effective manner.
- Maintain and update marketing materials while exploring innovative ways to showcase research and intellectual property assets to external stakeholders.
- Keep the internal database updated with company engagements, workflow, and pipeline activities.
- Work closely with colleagues within the Office to organise and manage event(s) that connects companies with Duke-NUS' researchers and highlights Duke-NUS's assets and research capabilities.
- Degree or equivalent in a related discipline (Business, Life sciences, etc)
- Minimum 6 to 7 years of previous experience in business development, industry alliances, or technology transfer within the healthcare or life sciences sector, with at least 2 years in a managerial related role.
- Strong multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize and manage several engagements simultaneously.
- Strong organizational, presentation, and adaptable communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where creative problem-solving is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint and data management platforms would be advantageous.
- Experience in planning and executing networking events, industry forums, panel discussion and/or fireside chats would be advantageous.
