Lab Manager

Basic Functions:

A Lab Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of a laboratory. This includes ensuring the safety and proper functioning of the lab. The following is a more detailed description of the responsibilities and duties of a Lab Manager.

Duties:

• Lab Safety: Ensure that the laboratory meets all safety regulations and standards. Develop and implement safety protocols, train staff on safety procedures, and monitor compliance.
• Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and repair of laboratory equipment. Keep inventory of supplies and reagents, and order replacements as needed.
• Procure: Responsible for the ordering of laboratory reagents and consumables and the supervision of their daily use.
• Compliance: Ensure that the laboratory complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines. Maintain records and documentation as required.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in laboratory operations and procedures and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity. Stay up to date with new technologies and developments in the field.
• Other Lab Work: Assist researchers in preparing routine experimental materials required for experiments, such as sharing reagent preparation and medium dispensing, etc.

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant scientific field, such as biology, chemistry.
• Several years of experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in a lab management role.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Motivated, organized, conscientious, responsible and a good team player.
