Position Overview:
The Senior Media & Commercial Manager is responsible for leading the media relations, public relations (PR), and commercial activities within the petrochemical industry. This role combines expertise in media strategy, press releases, and PR with strong commercial capabilities, including negotiating with suppliers and offtakers, as well as leveraging trading experience to optimize the company’s commercial performance. The Senior Media & Commercial Manager will handle relationships with media vendors, manage press communications, and negotiate favorable terms for both media and commercial contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Media & Public Relations Management:
- Develop and execute media and PR strategies to enhance the company’s brand, visibility, and reputation within the petrochemical industry.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media vendors, journalists, industry influencers, and external PR agencies.
- Coordinate the creation and distribution of press releases, media communications, and public statements to ensure accurate and timely messaging.
- Organize media events, press briefings, and corporate communications to support product launches, partnerships, and other key business initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage, public perception, and industry trends, and respond effectively to media inquiries and reputational issues.
- Commercial & Trading Management:
- Lead the negotiation and management of commercial agreements, including supply and offtake contracts, with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders.
- Apply trading experience to assess the market dynamics, determine optimal pricing strategies, and develop commercial terms for the sale of petrochemical products.
- Oversee the end-to-end process of trading petrochemical products, from initial negotiation to contract execution, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Ensure that commercial agreements align with the company’s financial objectives, business growth strategies, and risk management policies.
- Stakeholder Relationship & Vendor Negotiation:
- Manage long-term relationships with suppliers, customers, and media vendors, negotiating favorable terms for both media campaigns and commercial contracts.
- Negotiate media buys, content placement, and other media agreements, ensuring alignment with the company’s commercial objectives.
- Coordinate with senior stakeholders across the organization to align commercial and media strategies, ensuring both are in sync with overall business goals.
- Liaise with internal teams (legal, finance, operations) to ensure smooth and efficient execution of contracts and agreements.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees (MBA, MSc, etc.) or certifications in Media/PR, Business, or related fields are a plus.
- Experience:
- At least 7-10 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or communications, ideally within the petrochemical, chemical, or industrial sectors.
- Proven experience in negotiating supply and offtake contracts and managing commercial trading activities within the petrochemical or related industries.
- Strong background in managing media campaigns, press releases, and public communications.
- Hands-on experience in trading petrochemical products and understanding market dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to assess commercial opportunities, develop pricing strategies, and optimize business outcomes.
