What the role is:The Sustainability Partnerships Office (SPO), under the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, is responsible for driving partnerships with the 3P (People, Public and Private) sectors to advance the sustainability movement in Singapore. SPO works together with our 3P partners to co-create and co-implement sustainability-related projects for communities to take joint ownership of the environment. The close partnership between SPO and the 3P sectors will help steer Singapore's efforts towards achieving the goals under the Singapore Green Plan 2030. SPO also manages the $50 million SG Eco Fund, which supports ground-up projects to advance environmental sustainability and engage the community. Through the SG Eco Fund and other partnerships, SPO strives to motivate and enable Singaporeans to take collective action and build a sustainable Singapore together.What you will be working on:As a team member of SPO, you will have the opportunity to play an active role in these portfolios: Programmes and Partnerships Development • Develop and coordinate programmes (e.g. Climate Youth Development Programme) and initiatives to raise awareness on environmental sustainability and galvanise action; • Work with corporates, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and/or agencies to support initiatives for various stakeholder groups (e.g. youths, NGOs); • Develop and implement strateg(ies) for growing environmental sustainability partnerships; and • Collaborate with and support partners (e.g. ground-up groups, NGOs, Institutes of Higher Learning and schools) to design and implement initiatives that engage and advance environmental sustainability in their communities. Fund Administration • Evaluate proposals submitted for the SG Eco Fund; • Manage on-going projects and fund disbursement; and • Manage the administration and governance of the Fund. In addition, you will have opportunities to participate in MSE-wide programmes and other sustainability projects.What we are looking for:
  • Resourcefulness. Able to come up with different solutions to overcome difficult problems. • Adaptability. Able to work in a dynamic environment, handle multiple work pieces concurrently, and adapt to the changing needs of the role. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Able to engage stakeholders on sustainability issues, understand their perspectives and bring them on board as partners. • Strong inter-agency coordination skills. Able to manage inter-agency dynamics, build trust with stakeholders from different agencies, understand and rationalise agencies' viewpoints and work together to find common ground. • Strong communication skills, both in writing and speaking. Able to be succinct yet targeted by raising only the most pertinent points, and express points in a logical and compelling fashion. • Strong analytical and numeracy skills. Able to take an issue, dissect it to identify the specific problems/gaps and develop considered solutions to those problems/gaps. Also, should be comfortable with numbers, as there will be projects to manage that require processing claims and tracking fund utilisation. • Able to work both independently and in teams.
