Job Scope of a Senior Production Planner/ Document Controller

  • Production & Project Scheduling
  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on project requirements, engineering designs, and material availability.
  • Align schedules with project timelines, ensuring deliverables are met without delays.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to coordinate production activities.
  • Resource Planning & Optimization
  • Ensure optimal use of manpower, machinery, and materials to maximize productivity.
  • Identify potential bottlenecks in production and propose solutions.
  • Balance workloads across multiple engineering projects.
  • Material & Inventory Management
  • Work with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and tools.
  • Monitor stock levels and prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Implement just-in-time (JIT) strategies to reduce excess inventory costs.
  • Process Improvement & Efficiency Enhancement
  • Identify inefficiencies in the production process and suggest improvements.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies for waste reduction.
  • Work with engineering teams to streamline workflows and improve production timelines.
  • Quality & Compliance Management
  • Ensure that production processes meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address defects or deviations.
  • Adhere to industry-specific regulations (e.g., ISO, OSHA, ASME).
  • Coordination with Engineering & Cross-Functional Teams
  • Work closely with design engineers to align production with engineering changes.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams on new product introduction (NPI) and prototyping.
  • Communicate with stakeholders about production status, delays, or adjustments.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving
  • Address production disruptions such as machine breakdowns, supplier delays, or design modifications.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks affecting production schedules.
  • Reporting & Performance Monitoring
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as lead time, efficiency, and cost.
  • Prepare reports for senior management on production progress and resource utilization.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in inventory management, supply planning, material planning, or demand planning experience
  • Thorough functional and transactional knowledge of ERP
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to work with internal and external contacts at various levels within organizations
