Consultant, Public Perception and Communications
Verian is looking for a dynamic and versatile Consultant/Senior Consultant who has strong qualitative and quantitative skills, loves research, and is passionate towards helping to power decisions that shape our world.
You are expected to be confident in managing strategic research projects independently as well as collaboratively, guide your team, take pride in delivering quality that delight and lead by example, helping us to continue to grow a fantastic practise.
What you will be doing:
- Actively participate in studies relating to brand audit, brand strategy framework development and evaluation; communications audit and evaluation; public engagement evaluation, large scale public sentiment evaluation programmes to understand audiences and support public communications optimisation.
- Contributing to and/or leading (as appropriate) research project set-up and design, including designing research methodologies, drafting discussion guides, questionnaires, moderating research in client-observed scenarios, oversee project management, actively contributing to thoughtful analysis of results with the project team, and writing up findings and implications in a compelling manner, translating insights into strategy – with senior support as required.
- Client contact and stakeholder liaison – with Government and third sector clients, but also partner agencies (PR, digital, advertising, media etc.), providing advice and consultancy.
- Contributing to efficient, profitable, high-quality project delivery; meeting deadlines, delivering to budget, and maintaining quality and rigour.
- Contributing to proposals and pitches for new business.
- Contributing to reporting, presentations and workshops for varied senior audiences.
- Working across teams and expertise areas to design and deliver innovative mixed-method, bespoke research solutions.
- Share knowledge and teach your fellow teammates – everyone has something they can contribute, and a team works best when we grow together.
- Line management of at least one junior report, depending on availability.
What is expected of you:
- Have at least 5 years of relevant experience in qualitative and quantitative research, preferably in Singapore, and in the public space.
- Passionate about public issues, curious about unpacking wicked problems and invested in contributing to a better world.
- Open to new ideas, excited about exploring different ways to achieve the best outcomes, and willing to take the charge.
- Have a background in Communications or the Social Sciences, including but not limited to Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Behavioural Insights, Statistics, Social methods research, etc.
- Have experience in communications, branding, brand/communications strategy development.
- Method-agnostic - equally comfortable with qualitative and quantitative methods and able to bring appropriate elements together in the research design to deliver on the key objective.
- Competent moderator in English and at least one other local language, and have a passion to develop your facilitation skills and consultative thinking further
- Organised, energetic and confident in running brand audits, strategy and evaluation; communications audit, public engagement evaluation, large scale public sentiment evaluation work etc (you will have variety of work :))
- A great story teller – able to clearly and effectively bring together data from multiple sources and present it in a clear, engaging and impactful manner
- Have proven project execution experience with a strong and active contribution to shaping and delivering research.
- Like being with and advising clients; from day-to-day issues on specific projects to more strategic opportunities to help us grow our accounts.
- Care about quality and ‘getting it right’ – leading by example and taking pride in doing great work.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Open-minded, collaborative, easy going and a team player interested in working with others to do great things and eager to learn from others in the team.
- Thrive on variety – adaptable and positive in the face of change.
- Must be a Singapore citizen or PR and currently resides in Singapore.
