We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Partner & Head of Finance to join our management team. This is a pivotal role that will directly influence our profitability, operational efficiency, and market competitiveness in a competitive, inflationary and fast-paced grocery retail environment. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with deep financial acumen, a strong understanding of retail operations, and a passion for delivering value. You will be a key advisor to the Managing Director and leadership team, providing critical insights and recommendations to optimise performance across all areas of the business.

Responsibilities

Business Partnership:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and leadership team, providing strategic insights on market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape within the grocery retail sector.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives through "what-if" scenarios to enhance sales, optimise product mix, improve inventory management, and other key financial metrics.
  • Analyse sales data, market trends, and customer metrics to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic plans with the necessary financial guardrails.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop and manage the annual budget and financial forecasts, focusing on key retail metrics and risks.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of sales, margins, and expenses by category, store, to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement financial models to evaluate new product launches, promotional campaigns, and pricing strategies.
  • Analyse shrink and waste, and implement strategies to minimise losses.

Risk Management & Governance

  • Implement a comprehensive risk management framework, with guidance from the Group, to address specific risks and compliance and robust internal controls that commensurate with the risk profile of the business.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across all retail operations.
  • Develop and implement KPIs to monitor performance across all key areas of the business including minimising stockouts and reducing shrink, manpower deployment and costs optimisation, space management.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a senior financial leadership role within the grocery retail industry preferred.
  • Deep understanding of retail financial metrics, inventory management, and supply chain operations.
  • Proven track record of success in driving sales growth and profitability in a grocery retail environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a focus on data-driven insights.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience in e-commerce and omni-channel retail is highly desirable.
