Summary
Responsible for the technical management / aspect of the assigned vessel.
Job Description
- Operate and maintain the ship's marine equipment safely, economically, and efficiently in accordance with customer contracts/Charter Party, within approved budgets, to the satisfaction of both owners and their clients.
- Serve as the onshore contact point for the Vessels in day-to-day operations related to technical management and mobilization activities.
- Maintain contact with the owner in daily operations, as defined and agreed with the Marine Manager.
- Ensure that Statutory and Classification surveys for all plant and equipment on the vessels are carried out.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to prevent technical/operational non-conformities that may lead to downtime.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the PMS maintenance system by providing proactive feedback to the Fleet Manager and Marine Manager.
- Monitor and follow up on the vessel’s technical performance and defined KPIs.
- Take immediate actions to adjust and improve performance in case of non-conformities or when deviations are observed/reported.
- Follow up and ensure corrective actions are implemented in case of technical-related incidents and non-conformities.
- Analyze breakdowns and technical incidents and suggest experience transfers to the fleet.
- Report the vessel's technical status on a weekly basis to the Marine Manager.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise ship repairs and dry-docking of vessels in cooperation with other stakeholders.
- In case of major breakdowns, arrange repairs, provide spares and service engineers, and supervise the repair work to ensure safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- If insurance is involved, contact, inform, and follow up until settlement in coordination with the Fleet Manager and Marine Manager.
- Lead Vessel Condition Assessments.
- Participate in appraisals and selection of key personnel onboard the vessel.
- Comply with the requirements in STRATO SEEMS and report non-conformities.
- Actively cooperate with other disciplines within the fleet to optimize overall vessel and fleet performance.
- Be proactive and seek effective solutions for both the company and clients.
- Show a high degree of flexibility in ad hoc situations.
- Contribute actively to improving routines and solutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirement
- Minimum 3 years of relevant offshore vessels experience.
- Sea time as Chief Engineer on an offshore vessel preferred.
- Experience in operations/technical scope for OSVs.
- Proven experience in budgeting and cost control.
- Sound knowledge in:
- - General vessel machinery, equipment, and systems.
- - Classification and statutory requirements.
- - Engine types, including Caterpillar, Cummins, Wartsila, and Niigata.
- - FPP, CPP, Z-Pellers, and Azimuth drives.
- - DP systems and maintenance.
- - Diesel-electric drives and hybrid engine configurations.
- - Computer-based PMS and ancillary software.
- Preferably possess ship management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to travel at short notice.
- Works both independently and cooperatively in a team.
- Focuses on problem-solving and demonstrates decision-making skills.
- Demonstrates good and open communication.
- Has a strong focus on sharing information and involving the team.
