Job Description
  • Monitors and communicate and fleet reporting system where required the assigned vessels daily vessel performance in safety, technical and operations.
  • Monitor in coordination with the Master and Chief Engineer Officers that the vessel conforms to port state and flag state requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain the assigned vessel conform to Class survey status including CMS, Condition of Class. To plan and arrange for Surveyors attendance of same.
  • Monitor assigned vessels' maintenance and work schedule in accordance with Company's, Makers’, and Class’s recommendations.
  • Monitor the assigned ship’s maintenance system (ADMAX) and ensure vessels are maintained according to this. Evaluate maintenance frequency to ensure the cost-effective and optimal maintenance to ensure minimum downtime.
  • Prepare vessel for third party inspection, audits, and vetting vessel in coordination with Technical Manager, Marine Manager, and the Master.
  • Evaluate all periodical or non-periodical technical reports, checklist and forms submitted in the electronic document system from the vessel including spare parts, running hour’s maintenance and consumptions.
  • Encourage the Senior Officers to report technical breakdown defects in electronic document system for so as to carry out root cause analysis of the defects /nonconformities.
  • Provide vessels with technical assistance and/or arrange shore repair support when/where required.
  • In coordination with Vessel Senior Office to provide Technical Executive with clear and precise detail work repair or service specification for quotations to the repair vendors.
  • Attend to vessels repair/rectification requisition and schedule same.
  • Inspect assigned fleet periodically according to Company's policy and to submit written report to General Managers. Liaise with Marine Superintendent, Master, or Chief Engineer Officer on the vessel's maintenance programme and on operational matters.
  • During Inspection, to review effectiveness of Company's HSEMS System and to discuss with Master on its implementation.
  • Prepares in conjunction with Chief Engineer Officer on vessel's docking specification and job/repair requirement. Obtain quotation and dock space from selected dockyards according to Owners/Charterers schedule. Appoints dockyard after consultation with Technical Manager. Attend to vessel dry-docking independently or in conjunction with Marine Superintendent.
  • Prepare Dry Docking in six months advance as per HSEMS 5.1.12 Para 6, compile for quotation and to submit budgets for approval by the General Manager and final approvals by the Managing Director.
  • During Dry Docking, prepare weekly expenses against budget and report to the Managing Director in coordination with Technical Managers and General Managers.
  • After dry docking to prepare and submit the dry-docking report as per HSEMS 5.1.12 Para 8.2
  • To vet and authorise vessels' spare part, stores, and lubrication requisitions in coordination with the Purchasers on the delivery.
  • Monitoring and optimizing inventory levels to minimise costs and ensure availability.
  • To maintain and track vessels' spare part stock and requirement.
  • To monitor vessels’ speeds, bunkers, and lubricating oil consumption, stock, and requirements to perform safe voyages.
  • To process spare part suppliers' invoices for authorisation of payment by Technical Manager.
  • Liaise with Chief Engineer Officers on quantity and schedule of lubrication lifting.
  • Liaise and advise Chief Engineer Officers on lubrication and bunker quality analysis results.
  • Reports to Technical Manager on the assessment of ships technical staff performance.
  • Vetting of Engineer officer applicants for employment on vessels.
  • Provide briefing to Senior Officers joining vessels.
  • Vets, on Owner's behalf, charterer’s submission of disbursement.
  • Carry out independent pre-purchase and conditional inspections.
  • Monitor vessels expenditure in comparison with approved budget.
  • Liaise with Technical Manager in preparation and submission of vessels insurance claims documentation.
  • Monitor Newly Built Vessel Warranty and Repair Claims Status.
  • Prepare vessel for third party inspection and vetting vessel in coordination with Marne Manager, Superintendent, and the Master.
  • Monitor speed, fuel consumption and lubricating oil consumption trend and history in Fleet reporting System.
  • During normal ship inspection visits, to verify bunker sounding figures against reported figures checks.
  • Arrange for stand in when not able to serve the vessel, due to travel, vacations, etc.
  • Member of the Emergency Response Team in contingency.

Job Requirement
    COC Class I Marine Engineer.
    Hands on experience and able to trouble shoot and motivate crews to perform duty respectively
    Willing to sail with vessel for short voyages and evaluate machinery problems and to plan for repairs to prevent stoppages and breakdown.
    Fresh sea going Marine Engineer with Chief Engineer experience looking to step ashore are encouraged to apply
