JOB DESCRIPTION:Primary Function/Primary Goals/Objectives:
  • Responsible for purchasing Direct materials, issuing purchase orders to suppliers, schedule supplier deliveries and ensure materials arrive on time in full to support daily production needs. Expedite deliveries if required. Follow-up with suppliers on goods receiving exception and obtain authorization for returns.
  • Manage supplier delivery performance to ensure KPIs are met.
  • Ensure purchasing activities are performed in compliance with Abbott Purchasing Policies
Major Responsibilities:
  • Manage direct materials delivery schedules
  • Perform daily MRP evaluations and take actions to resolve MRP exceptions.
  • Issue Purchase Orders to suppliers and ensure Purchase Order changes are updated accurately in MRP.
  • Manage label changes for packaging materials and ensure buying accuracy and no write offs of old labels
  • Responsible for key Purchasing & financial metrics – Supplier Delivery Performance, Supplier PO leadtime, Pallet Spending LBE and Distress Inventory (Excess and Obsolescence)
  • Responsible for preparing the monthly Purchase projections, a rolling 24 month forecast, to ensure that
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve supplier delivery performance and quality performance through Material Review Board
  • Participate in Cost Improvement Projects
  • Perform purchasing activities in compliance with Abbott Purchasing Policies
  • Any other Purchasing work as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management or Material Management
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in Purchasing, Material Planning or Master/Production Scheduling
  • APICS CPIM certified will be an advantage
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle etc) and Microsoft Office applications and applied knowledge in use of statistical or mathematical modeling tools will be an added advantage
  • Problem solving skills and application of RCA tools
  • Supply Chain fundamentals and/or operations management techniques
  • Good written communications and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional business team environment.
