Deputy Chief Executive

The Deputy Chief Executive role will be a key driver in shaping the strategic direction and growth of the company. It encompasses responsibilities in business strategy and planning, new business development, and product or service innovation. The incumbent will also oversee corporate services, including finance, administration, human resources, digital services, and the business development of learning and training facilities. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Key Responsibilities:
Business Strategy and Planning
- Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive strategic business plans to achieve company goals and objectives.
- Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify growth opportunities, competitive positioning, and emerging trends.
- Work together with the management team to ensure alignment of business strategies with organisational objectives and vision across the company.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and adjust plans as necessary.
Business Development
- Lead the team to identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company's offerings and revenue streams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and clients to foster collaboration and growth.
- Lead negotiations and contract discussions for new business ventures, ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
- Lead the business development efforts for the rental of training facilities, both pay-per-use and long-term, to maximize occupancy and revenue.
Product and Service Innovation
- Lead the team to drive the development and commercialisation of new products and services that align with market needs and company goals.
- Oversee the entire innovation process, from ideation and prototyping to market launch and scaling.
- Foster a culture of creativity, continuous improvement, and customer-centric innovation within the organisation.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to inform innovation efforts.
Corporate Services and Human Resources
- Oversee the finance, purchasing and administration functions to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness to enable and support the business.
- Oversee the development of the corporate workplan and management of corporate performance and targets.
- Oversee the digital services function to enhance the company's technological capabilities and digital transformation.
- Oversee the HR function as well as the development and implementation of HR strategies that align with the company's goals, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring talent acquisition, development, and retention.
- Oversee the corporate governance framework, including managing corporate and Board secretariat function, and developing and maintaining sound internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards across the above functions.
Facility and Operations Management
- Ensure the effective management of building operations and services, including maintenance, security, and facility-related functions.
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe, productive, and sustainable work environment.
- Oversee the planning and execution of facility upgrades, renovations, and expansions as needed.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within the Continuous Education & Training (CET) or Adult Training (TAE) landscape.
- Strong strategic planning, business acumen, business development, and innovation skills.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal abilities.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to drive innovation, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing market conditions.
Candidates without the required qualification but with relevant experience are welcome to apply.
Successful candidates will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance and may be considered for an extension or be placed on a permanent tenure.
