The incumbent will oversee IT projects of SMBC subsidiaries or affiliates and will engage stakeholders, product managers, operations and IT Teams. He/she should possess a strong background in Banking, IT project management and have a proven track record of delivering complex IT projects on time and within budget.Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead Banking IT project planning, execution, and delivery with SMBC subsidiaries, aligning with corporate strategy, business objectives and head office directives.
  • Engage and manage expectations of key stakeholders, gather requirements and validate IT investments and ROI.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to design system architecture and ensure seamless data and system integration.
  • Apply strategic thinking to understand business needs and provide effective business operational process and IT solution design.
  • Review IT projects and liaise with Head Office for governance on IT budgets, resources, and delivery.
  • Provide guidance on data structure and system design, adhering to internal data governance standards.
  • Deliver regular project updates to stakeholders and manage timely incident reporting to Head Office.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and conduct post-project evaluations for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify successes and areas for improvement.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent with 8+ years of experience in the banking domain.
  • Skilled in gathering and analysing business requirements through various techniques.
  • Proficient in mapping business processes and translating requirements into specifications for Agile or waterfall delivery.
  • Strong IT project management and analytical skills for executing projects and evaluating ROI.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring alignment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards in banking, ability to manage workloads, and lead cross-functional teams across diverse cultures.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize large workloads and deliver projects within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage or lead cross-function teams and appreciate diverse cultures to facilitate smooth communications between Head Office, Singapore office, and subsidiaries or affiliates.
  • Ability to speak Bahasa languages will be a plus as the role is required to work closely with SMBC subsidiary in Indonesia on project delivery.
  • Proficiency in both English and Japanese is highly preferred as this role needs to prepare reports in Japanese for reporting to Head Office in Japan. This role also needs to present and communicate with stakeholders and counterparts in Tokyo Head Office who mainly communicate in Japanese.
