Part of a support team, the Cloud DBA (database administrator) will:
- Manage and optimize cloud databases across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Ensure high availability, performance tuning, and data security.
- Set up database backup, recovery, and access control.
Role and responsibilities
- Administer and maintain custom databases (Amazon Aurora, Azure Cosmos DB, Google Cloud Spanner).
- Set up and manage relational databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
- Set up and manage non-relational databases (DynamoDB, Bigtable, Cosmos DB).
- Database Security & Access Control:
- Configure user access rights, privileges, and authentication policies.
- Monitor database storage and space utilization.
- Ensure database encryption and compliance with security standards.
- Database Performance & Troubleshooting:
- Optimize database performance tuning and query optimizations.
- Work with Authority-appointed suppliers to resolve database-related issues.
- Database Backup & Recovery:
- Implement database snapshot backups and disaster recovery plans.
- Maintain version control and redundancy strategies.
Requirements
- Required Certification: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate.
- Minimum 1 year experience managing databases in cloud infrastructure..
- Strong knowledge in MSSQL.
- Knowledge of MariaDB, Azure Cosmos DB or PostgreSQL would be an added advantage.
- Nice to have: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Database
