
APPROVED WORKPLACE SAFETY HEALTH OFFICER / Safety Officer
Approved Workplace Safety and Health Officer/Safety officer is responsibility is to support the organisation's WSH procedures and this includes conducting safety checks to ensure compliance with organisational and legal WSH standards, assisting Project Managers in monitoring daily work practices, gathering worker feedback, evaluating workplace risks and hazards, and escalating safety issues for corrective and preventive action.
WSHOs must possess relevant safety officer skills, and a thorough understanding of WSH requirements.
They are required to complete necessary training and have at least 2 to 3 years of practical experience in the field.
• Education:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Experience:
Experience in environmental & OSHA compliance, sustainability, risk assessment & reduction, occupational health & safety, and industrial hygiene, and capable of conducting fire drills and evacuation.
• Certifications:
MOM registered WSHO license (Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer).
Certified in QEHS Internal Auditing (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) is significantly advantageous.
• Technical Knowledge:
Possess ISO knowledge and implementation. Familiar with local regulatory requirements related to workplace safety, health, and all other safety aspects.
• Interpersonal Skills:
Possess excellent communication and collaboration capabilities with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams.
• Work Style:
Ability to work independently and work well in a team, adaptive to management changes & approaches, and maintain a positive and proactive attitude within challenging working environments.
