Role & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain vessels in safe and smooth operation, minimize downtime and ensure vessels are in excellent conditions
  • Monitoring the vessel performance, shipboard maintenance and repair programs
  • Ensure the inventory level of spares / stores and other consumables onboard vessels are adequate for the smooth operation of the vessels
  • Plan and ensure classification surveys are conducted in time to maintain the validity of statutory and classification certificates.
  • Conduct regular vessel inspections
  • Supervise docking repairs, verify rectification of defects, and ensure the vessel is ready for operation within allocated time
  • Responsible for all aspect of safety management of assigned vessels, including the crew members, ship conditions and services
  • Provide technical support in ship-shore emergency, conduct investigation and submit reports
  • Develop and track budget for the assigned vessels
  • Approve orders, invoices, and payment within the authorized limits.
  • Assist in the selection, training and evaluation of engineers and crew members onboard
  • Ensure the fleet are complying with current and future legislation and standards
  • Provide full cooperation in the audit process and take prompt corrective actions against any non-conformities
  • Keep senior management appraised of the operational status of vessels
  • Any ad-hoc duties as assigned by the superior

Requirements

  • Diploma & above, or Chief Engineer (Unlimited) Class 1
  • Min. 3 years’ relevant experiences
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Possess a good human resources management skill
  • Good communication, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • A team player
