Role & Responsibilities:
- Maintain vessels in safe and smooth operation, minimize downtime and ensure vessels are in excellent conditions
- Monitoring the vessel performance, shipboard maintenance and repair programs
- Ensure the inventory level of spares / stores and other consumables onboard vessels are adequate for the smooth operation of the vessels
- Plan and ensure classification surveys are conducted in time to maintain the validity of statutory and classification certificates.
- Conduct regular vessel inspections
- Supervise docking repairs, verify rectification of defects, and ensure the vessel is ready for operation within allocated time
- Responsible for all aspect of safety management of assigned vessels, including the crew members, ship conditions and services
- Provide technical support in ship-shore emergency, conduct investigation and submit reports
- Develop and track budget for the assigned vessels
- Approve orders, invoices, and payment within the authorized limits.
- Assist in the selection, training and evaluation of engineers and crew members onboard
- Ensure the fleet are complying with current and future legislation and standards
- Provide full cooperation in the audit process and take prompt corrective actions against any non-conformities
- Keep senior management appraised of the operational status of vessels
- Any ad-hoc duties as assigned by the superior
Requirements
- Diploma & above, or Chief Engineer (Unlimited) Class 1
- Min. 3 years’ relevant experiences
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Possess a good human resources management skill
- Good communication, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills
- A team player
