
Network Technical Specialist (Contract)
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Subject Matter Expert (SME) with Project Management experience to lead the transformation of our data center network architecture from a 3-tier model to a spine-and-leaf architecture. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with CISCO network devices, firewall and load balancer knowledge, and a proven track record in network project management.
Key Responsibilities:
Architectural Design
- Develop and implement the spine-and-leaf network architecture to enhance scalability, performance, and reliability.
Technical Leadership
- Serve as the technical point of contact for all network-related aspects of the project.
- Provide network architecture expertise, particularly in data center infrastructure, firewalls, and core switch technologies.
- Coordinate with network engineers to ensure best practices are followed during installation, configuration, and testing.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure timely delivery and adherence to contractual obligations.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to align project objectives and address concerns.
Project Management
- Lead end-to-end project management for data center migrations, firewall refresh, and core switch migrations, ensuring the projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication strategies.
- Manage cross-functional teams, including network engineers, vendors, and internal teams, ensuring effective collaboration.
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify potential project risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies.
- Troubleshoot and lead resolution efforts for network downtime or technical failures during project execution.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, timelines, and meeting notes.
- Provide regular status updates to senior management and stakeholders on progress, key milestones, and challenges.
- Ensure all project deliverables are properly documented and handed over upon completion.
Requirements:
- Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, IT, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in network architecture and project management, focusing on CISCO network devices.
- CCNP/CCNA certification is required.
- CCIE, PMP, or equivalent certifications is good to have.
- Expertise in spine-and-leaf network architecture and CISCO networking solutions.
- Excellent knowledge of firewall and load balancer technologies.
- Experience in telco leased line optimization.
- Excellent project management skills, including experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to engage with technical teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
