Design Manager

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design Oversight:
   o Lead and monitor the design process for marine dredging, reclamation,
   and coastal engineering projects, ensuring alignment with project
   objectives, budgets, and timelines.
   o Review and approve design deliverables, including engineering
   calculations and analysis, sequences of works, method statements, and
   drawings.
   o Ensure designs comply with environmental regulations, maritime laws,
   and safety standards.
2. Project Coordination:
   o Act as the primary point of contact for all design-related matters for
   the Singapore office on all design and engineering related enquiries
   and matters
   o Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to resolve
   design-related challenges.
   o Monitor design progress and ensure timely delivery of design
   packages.
3. Technical Leadership:
   o Provide technical expertise in marine engineering, dredging, and
   reclamation design.
   o Oversee the development of hydraulic, geotechnical, and structural
   designs for marine projects.
   o Ensure the use of advanced design tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD,
   GIS, BIM, and dredging simulation software).
4. Team Management:
   o Manage and mentor a team of marine engineers, designers, and
   drafters.
   o Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
   o Conduct regular design reviews and provide technical guidance to the
   team.
5. Client Engagement:
   o Work closely with clients to understand their project requirements and
   constraints.
   o Present design concepts and solutions to clients, addressing feedback
   and ensuring satisfaction.
   o Build and maintain strong client relationships.
6. Budget and Resource Management:
   o Develop and manage design budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
   o Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands.
   o Review and approve design-related invoices and expenses.
7. Quality Assurance:
   o Ensure all design deliverables meet quality standards and project
   specifications.
   o Conduct regular audits of design processes and outputs to identify
   areas for improvement.
   o Implement best practices to enhance design efficiency and quality.
8. Sustainability and Innovation:
   o Incorporate sustainable design practices into marine projects, such as
   minimizing environmental impact and optimizing resource use.
   o Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and
   innovative solutions in marine construction.
   

Qualifications:
Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, preferably with specialization in
  Geotechnical, Coastal Engineering, or a related field.
• Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., PE, PMP) is a plus.
  

Experience:

• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in marine engineering, dredging,
  or reclamation projects.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale marine construction
  projects.
• Experience with hydraulic, geotechnical, and structural design for
  marine environments.
  

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of local and regional industry standards, maritime
  laws, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
