Marine Underwriter Senior Manager

Responsibility:

• Mainly be responsible for managing, overseeing and guiding the marine underwriting and lead portfolio and business development for the Marine business
• To manage and drive growth for the portfolio which working within established guidelines to ensure that portfolio is underwritten to meet line of business targeted ratios for losses, commissions, as well as expenses
• Underwrite marine cargo/hull classes of insurance within authorized underwriting limits
• Manage all Marine insurance distribution channels (Agents, Brokers, Direct clients and alternative distributors)
• Train, coach and develop marine employees to assure required level of expertise, performance and succession variability.
• Manage all marine-related service relationships with external and internal service platforms
• Deliver cost containment while building reputation for service leadership.

Requirement:

• Candidates must possess at least bachelor’s degree.
• Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the marine insurance underwriting industries.
• Have a deep knowledge of and extensive existing networks within the Marine Industry
• Ability to understand and manage the Marine portfolio including annual budgeting and forecasting
• Strong communication skills as well as excellent written and verbal skills are a must
• Experience in managing people and the ability to motivate a team. It is an essential requirement to be able to work independently and possess strong people skills.
• Analytical skills and ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within designated authority
