Job Description:
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the Provost, providing insights and recommendations on key academic initiatives involving the Office of the Provost.
  • Manage the efficient administration of various academic affairs including but not limited to addressing academic policy and process issues as well as implementing and ensuring compliance with academic policies
  • Drive strategic academic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the university's overarching goals.
  • Manage progress of key academic initiatives and special projects ensuring milestones are met, including but not limited to creating frameworks to assess and measure success.
  • Represent the Provost at strategic meetings with external parties, as required by the Provost.
  • Act as conduit between senior leaders and offices under the Office of the Provost, ensuring alignment in priorities and actions
  • Serve as secretariat to the Provost's Council (PVC); propose and manage meeting agenda in consultation with the Provost; responsible for recording of minutes of meetings and ensuring appropriate and timely follow up on post-meeting action plans and activities.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Provost.
Qualifications:
  • A university degree or equivalent with at least 15 years of relevant work experience in a similar capacity.
  • Experience as a senior administrator in the higher education sector covering management of both strategic and operational matters preferred.
  • Successful track record in driving academic initiatives and projects, with the ability to adapt and innovate under conditions of uncertainty and rapid change.
  • Confident in dealing with senior academics, senior administrators and external stakeholders; and demonstrated strong understanding of the workings of a complex university system.
  • Strong strategic mindset with proven success in problem-solving, multi-tasking, and analytical abilities.
  • Notable experience in general administration, project management and delivery, stakeholder engagement and relationship building.
  • Adept at designing and scoping projects, timelines and deliverables.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Resourceful, independent worker and a team player, with strong collaborative and influencing skills that enables collaboration with a wide range of partners.
