The sucessful candidate will join the Nutrition and Digestive Health (NDH) group at the Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI), which performs R&D in human nutrition, gut microbiome and digestive physiology.

The successful candidate will perform both lab and clinical experimental work for a funded project that involves microbial culturing, metagenomics and a human clinical trial. In executing the project, the Research Officer will plan and perform experiments in close collaboration with the supervisor and an industry collaborator, analyse and organise experimental results for reporting to the supervisor.

In addition, he/she will be responsible for liaising with vendors, research participants and collaborators, purchasing consumables, organising and maintaining equipment and writing SOPs.

He/she will uphold high safety and integrity standards, comply with all HBRA (Human Biomedical Research Act) and HSEP (Health, Safety and Environmental Protection) rules and regulations, as well as SIFBI internal rules.

Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a researcher to contribute to a collaborative project on the effects of ethnic diets and natural products on microbiome and human health. The research officer will:

Perform both lab and clinical experimental work for a funded project that involves microbial culturing, metagenomics and a human clinical trial
Plan and perform experiments in close collaboration with the supervisor and an industry collaborator
Analyse and organise experimental results for reporting to the supervisor
Be responsible for liaising with vendors, research participants and collaborators
Purchasing consumables, organise and maintain equipment, write SOPs

Job Requirements:
Expertise in planning and executing clinical trials.
Experience in hands-on experimental microbiology or molecular biology work in a laboratory.
Experience in qPCR, metagenomics and/or scripted data cleaning is advantageous.
Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and ethical considerations in human biomedical research.
Detail-oriented, organised, with excellent communication skills.
Thrives in a fast paced and dynamic environment
Strong team player and highly motivated to contribute to the area of microbiome research and precision nutrition.
