Network Engineering is a global organization that is part of the Foundational Infrastructure business unit and is based in multiple locations around the world. The team engineers technologies, products, and solutions across the entire network infrastructure. This includes networks hosting critical market data, exchange connectivity, e-commerce services, cloud connectivity, the global core backbone, the design of the physical network supporting campus-based users, and interconnectivity to regional offices. The team is also involved in the development of software solutions to support all aspects of network automation, ensuring that knowledge, best practices, and expertise are shared between regions to promote teamwork and collaboration.

Network Engineering is seeking an experienced Internet (Perimeter) Network Engineer with strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

The engineer’s responsibilities include:

  • Environmental ownership for global Internet perimeter networks.
  • Taking an active role in the stability of the platform by providing senior production management support for business-impacting and complex problems.
  • Functioning as a senior-level escalation point during incident management activities.
  • Working with internal business-facing clients to understand their requirements, translating them into technology solutions, and developing new solutions as required.
  • Providing subject matter expertise when collaborating on cross-platform projects with teams responsible for Collaboration, Information Security, Compute, Storage, and Data Center.
  • Introducing, communicating, and developing strategic networking technologies to provide additional scalability and functionality.
  • Taking an active role in the product lifecycle, from new technology introduction to phase-out.
  • Owning the delivery of a variety of concurrent projects of varying scales, from small to very large.
  • Experience working with networking product vendors and telecom service providers.

Skill / Experience

The skills required to be successful in this role:

  • Extensive technical experience in engineering and implementing networking technologies within a large enterprise, preferably with exposure to the financial sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of Internet perimeter networks, external connectivity, and security standards; cloud connectivity, data center design principles, products, and protocols are also beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of network security architectures, models, authentication schemes, encryption techniques, and standards.
  • Design and product experience with cloud-based proxy solutions such as Zscaler, iBoss, and Palo Alto.
  • Design and product experience with CDN/DDoS mitigation providers and external/Internet monitoring solutions such as Akamai/Prolexic, Lumen, and Cloudflare.
  • Design and product experience with firewalls such as Juniper Netscreen/JunOS, Palo Alto, and Fortinet.
  • Experience with remote ISP monitoring tools such as Cisco Thousand Eyes.
  • Strong knowledge of WAN/LAN topologies, protocols, and networking technologies (Ethernet, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, PIM, SNMP, MPLS).
  • Technical experience with products such as Cisco Routers, Switches, Nexus, ASR, NCS, ISR product lines, and Layer4-7 switching/high availability (Citrix Netscaler or Avi/NSX-LB preferred).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a global team environment.
  • Strong project management skills, including experience with large network deployments and cross-discipline project deliverables.
  • Desirable: Experience in application performance optimization and troubleshooting through packet-level analysis.
  • Desirable: Experience with automating network functions, software scripting, and/or development, e.g., automation and accessing web-based services via APIs.
