Job Purpose
The Head of Faculty Affairs (FA) will be responsible for overseeing faculty-related matters across the schools within the College of Engineering (CoE). This role serves as the primary point of contact for faculty affairs (FA) within CoE and ensures alignment with the Dean's strategic vision. The incumbent will lead initiatives in faculty recruitment, culture-building, and space & infrastructure planning to support academic excellence and faculty development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Faculty Recruitment
- Develop and implement faculty recruitment strategies to attract top-tier talent to CoE.
- Collaborate with school leadership and HR teams to streamline hiring processes and ensure compliance with university policies.
- Establish faculty onboarding programs to integrate new hires into the CoE community effectively.
- Oversee faculty appointment, promotion, and tenure processes in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
2. Faculty Culture & Engagement
- Drive initiatives to foster a collaborative and inclusive faculty culture within CoE.
- Develop faculty engagement programs, networking opportunities, and recognition initiatives to enhance faculty experience.
- Act as a liaison between faculty members and the Dean's office to address concerns, feedback, and policy matters.
- Facilitate mentorship and professional development opportunities for faculty members.
3. Space & Infrastructure Planning
- Oversee the allocation and optimization of faculty office spaces and research facilities across CoE.
- Work closely with the university's estate and facilities teams to plan for infrastructure enhancements.
- Ensure that faculty spaces align with academic and research needs to enhance productivity and collaboration.
4. Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty affairs-related queries from the Dean and other senior leadership.
- Coordinate with the schools under CoE to ensure consistency in faculty-related policies and initiatives.
- Engage with HR, finance, and administrative teams to align faculty affairs with broader institutional goals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or above in a STEM-related field (e.g., Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or other relevant disciplines.
- Relevant experience in faculty affairs, academic administration, or human resources within a higher education institution is preferred.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across multiple schools and departments.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in faculty recruitment, engagement, and space planning is highly desirable.
