Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Scientist I/Scientist II to join our Chemical Biology team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects at the intersection of chemistry, biology, and drug discovery. The successful candidate will be developing chemical biology approaches to uncover disease molecular mechanisms, identify new therapeutic targets, and create innovative therapeutics modalities. As part of a dynamic and collaborative team, you will drive projects towards important milestones, conduct independent research, and collaborate across disciplines to advance novel therapeutic strategies.
Job Description
Lead and manage research projects, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and high-quality outcomes.
Collaborate cross-functionally with biochemists, structural biologists and computational scientists, to drive ongoing research and development projects in a fast-paced environment.
Develop chemical biology approaches for target engagement studies aimed at understanding disease mechanisms and advancing drug discovery.
Synthesize and characterize chemical probes, small molecules, peptides, or other bioactive compounds for research applications.
Utilise bioanalytical techniques such as mass spectrometry, fluorescence imaging, and ligand-binding assays.
Stay up to date with advancements in chemical biology and drug discovery.
Oversee the upkeep of lab equipment and ensure adherence to good housekeeping practices in the lab.
Maintain detailed, accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Job Qualifications
A PhD in Chemical Biology is preferred. Applicants with a PhD in Chemistry, Biology, or related disciplines with relevant skill sets may also apply.
Job Requirements
Chemistry lab skills: Strong expertise in the design, synthesis and purification of compounds (using flash column chromatography, preparative HPLC), and compound characterization techniques (LCMS, HPLC, NMR).
Biology lab skills: Strong expertise in wet lab research (cell culture, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, co-immunoprecipitation assays, fluorescence imaging), molecular biology, RNA biology.
Chemical Biology lab skills: Experience with Activity-Based Protein Profiling (ABPP), Affinity-Based Protein Profiling (AfBP), and chemoproteomics is a plus.
Strong passion for interdisciplinary research and exploring novel therapeutic approaches.
Self-motivated, fast learner with strong organization skills.
Able to excel in a fast-paced environment, with attention to details and a problem-solving mindset.
Excellent communication skills, including scientific writing, presentations, and project management.
Collaborative, team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills, to build relationships both internally and externally.
