What a Product Engineer does in HP:


  • Leads project teams of product engineers and internal and outsourced development and manufacturing partners responsible for all stages of product of lifecycle.
  • Expands relationships with internal and outsourced partners for product manufacturing and development.
  • Reviews and evaluates product designs and project activities for compliance with manufacturing guidelines and standards.
  • Oversees troubleshooting, initiates design improvements and documentation with the R&D, Engineering, and operations teams to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Provides tangible feedback based on results to improve product quality and mitigate risk of product failure.
  • Provides domain-specific expertise and overall product engineering leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
  • Drives innovation and integration of new technologies and quality initiatives into projects and activities in the manufacturing engineering organization.
  • Applies advanced subject matter knowledge, leads, and contributes to complex projects, and exercises independent judgment in resolving business issues and establishing policies.
  • Guides and mentors staff members on product engineering design, innovation and excellence.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:
  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in product design & development, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Industrial 4.0 technology/solution will be advantageous.
