Financial Analyst (Sell-Side & VC Focus)

Role Overview
We are seeking a Financial Analyst with Sell-Side expertise to support direct VC investments (25 companies) and fund administration oversight (5 VC funds of funds). This role will be 50% sell-side analysis—covering financial modeling, due diligence, and investment recommendations—and 50% financial strategy & operational oversight, focusing on financial planning, cost optimization, and income tracking.
This position requires a strong understanding of venture capital (VC), private equity (PE), and fund administration, with expertise in financial modeling, fund reporting, and strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sell-Side & Direct VC Investment Analysis (50%)
- Conduct financial modeling & valuation (DCF, comparables, scenario analysis) for 25 portfolio companies.
- Analyze financial statements, market trends, and competitive positioning of VC-backed startups.
- Prepare investment research reports, earnings forecasts, and sector analysis to guide investment decisions.
- Track financial performance, burn rate, runway, revenue growth, and exit potential for portfolio companies.
- Assist in deal execution, due diligence, and investment memos for new investments.
- Support fundraising efforts by preparing investor presentations and financial analyses.
2. Fund Administration Oversight (5 VC Funds of Funds) (25%)
- Oversee third-party fund administrators handling fund accounting, NAV calculations, and financial reporting.
- Review fund capital calls, distributions, waterfall calculations, and LP reporting for accuracy.
- Monitor fund expenses, management fees, and compliance with fund agreements.
- Track fund performance across multiple asset classes, including public equity, hedge funds, and PE/VC co-investments.
- Coordinate with fund managers for investment performance analysis and risk assessment.
3. Financial Strategy, Cost Optimization & Income Tracking (25%)
- Financial Modeling & Scenario Analysis: Build financial models to evaluate different funding scenarios, risk exposure, and income tracking.
- Financial Forecasting & Budgeting: Develop income forecasts and ensure funding aligns with headcount and operational needs.
- Cost Optimization: Analyze expenditure patterns, identify inefficiencies, and drive financial sustainability.
- Data Analytics & Unstructured Data Management: Consolidate financial data across portfolio companies and funds for internal reporting.
- Investment Growth & Sustainability Initiatives: Assess revenue-generating opportunities and financial sustainability of investments.
Requirements
Technical & Analytical Skills
Financial Modeling & Valuation (DCF, P/E, EV/EBITDA, scenario analysis).
Fund Administration & Oversight (capital calls, NAV calculations, waterfall models).
Financial Strategy & Forecasting (income tracking, cost optimization, fund allocations).
Sell-Side Research & Investment Analysis (market trends, earnings forecasts, competitive benchmarking).
VC & PE Fund Knowledge (fund structures, co-investments, and investor reporting).
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor's/Master’s in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
Experience: 5-10 years in VC, PE, sell-side equity research, investment banking, or fund administration.
Tools & Software: Excel (advanced), Bloomberg, CapIQ, VC fund management tools.
Soft Skills
Strong stakeholder management across fund managers, administrators, and internal teams.
Ability to translate financial data into strategic insights.
High attention to detail with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
