Language Executive Officer (Tamil Translator/Transcriber) - SPF / CID

What The Role Is

The SPF plays a critical role in keeping Singapore safe and secure, with our mission to prevent, deter and detect crime. As a Language Executive Officer in CID, you play an important role to provide critical translation and transcription support for the SPF.

What You Will Be Working On

As a Tamil Language Executive Officer in CID, you will be responsible on the following:

• Translate and transcribe audio/video recordings that are of interest to the SPF from Tamil to English (and vice versa).
• Ensure accuracy and capture every word and nuance of the spoken content.
• Format the written translation and transcription according to specific guidelines.
• Review and proofread the translations and transcriptions for accuracy, clarity and ensure readability and coherence.
• Translate media releases, advisories or any information prepared by the SPF for publicity or dissemination to the general public.
• Be prepared to respond to any urgent translation and transcription duties during operational emergencies which involve short-notice activation that may arise outside of regular working hours.
• Must be able to work in a fast paced and highly volatile environment that would require the ability to meet very short turnaround times and deadlines effectively, efficiently and with a high level of accuracy.
• Attend court proceedings when required.

• Strong listening skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication skills to liaise with different stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications and prior experience in transcription and/or translation work will be an advantage.
