A DAY IN THE LIFE

The successful candidate for Senior Legal Director position will provide legal strategy and support for the Asian market, which consists of South Korea, India and SEA. The primary stakeholders will be business leaders and members of the inhouse functions, such as HR, Finance, Regulatory and Clinical Teams. The successful candidate will be a member of the EurAsia Legal LT and the Asia Business LT.

The primary responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Commercial Legal Counsel: , Represents the legal interests of MDT across Asia, working collaboratively with the leadership team and partnering with relevant stakeholders within the Legal or other functions.
  • Business Partner: Effectively partners with leadership, business and functions to develop strong professional relationships working on complex and impactful business initiatives and a variety of contracts. This role requires not only a sharp legal mind but well-developed business acumen.
  • Legal Strategy: Develop and implement legal strategies to safeguard the Company's interests, identify and mitigate risks and support business objectives while identifying areas for continuous improvement across the Asia region.
  • Team management/development: Effectively lead a team of lawyers across the Asia region, driving and mentoring and developing team members to progress in their professional career.
  • OC / Litigation Management: Oversee and manage commercial disputes, collaborating with external counsel when necessary.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of healthcare regulations and ensure the Company's adherence to applicable laws
  • Cooperation and coordination: Effectively navigate within the matrixed organization and cooperating with the Global Legal Function and the relevant Centers of Excellence.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS "Must Have's"

  • 13+ years of legal experience.
  • Experience in a law firm, corporate legal department or in-house counsel role


Your Profile / Desired Qualifications

  • Healthcare industry experience – pharma, medical device, diagnostics, life sciences etc.
  • Leadership gravitas and a proven ability to influence leadership at all levels of an organization.
  • An adept ability to issue spot with a solution-oriented and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to identify high risk situations and provide appropriate guidance, including the ability to make bold and courageous decisions.
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple complex projects across multiple stakeholder groups and countries within required timelines and expectations
  • Managerial experience and expertise with onsite and remote team members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Financial and Business Acumen
  • Courage, integrity and strong ethical character; and
  • Strong understanding of, and ability to demonstrate, the following cultural norms: act boldly; compete to win; move with speed & decisiveness; foster belonging; and deliver results the right way
  • Reasonable travel will be expected.
