What the role is:The Rehabilitation and Protection Group (RPG) undertakes the statutory functions in the rehabilitation of adult and youth offenders, and the protection of children, families and vulnerable adults (VAs). Our mission is to empower individuals and families to break cycles of violence, abuse, neglect, and offending. As part of the RPG family, the Adult Protective Service (APS) is a statutory service and it leads in the policies and processes to safeguard the safety and well-being of individuals, families and vulnerable adults experiencing violence, abuse or neglect.What you will be working on:Brief description of Job Scope: This function in APS will manage egregious family violence cases. Reporting to the Senior Manager, your role is to manage egregious family violence cases including undertaking risk assessment for court application and working closely with sector partners on intervention work and safety planning. You will also assist to develop operational processes, policies, systems and training to support the team. Responsibilities: As an Adult Protection Officer (Family Violence), you will: Carry out statutory functions under the Women's Charter in the protection of family violence cases such as in the application of court orders; Manage egregious family violence cases such as undertaking risk assessment on survivor's safety to determine the need for court's involvement and working closely with sector partners to engage survivors and perpetrators on safety planning and intervention and ensure coordinated case management for the enduring safety of the survivors; Develop and implement operational processes and policies to guide the team's operations; Work closely with the Strategic Capabilities and Learning team to identify key competencies and trainings for the team; Identify and engage key sector partners to collaborate and build up interface to facilitate a smooth service delivery; and Any other work assigned by the management of APS.What we are looking for:Requirements: Technical/ Functional Competencies: Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline (i.e. Sociology) from an accredited institution Prior experience in working with family violence and/or vulnerable families is an advantage Generic Competencies: Good interpersonal and communication skills Good assessment, problem solving and multi-tasking skills Empathetic with high level of emotional resilience and ability to work calmly in stressful situations and environment Tenacious and nimble in handling difficult clients and/or situations Enjoy teamwork and able to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment Basic understanding of the local social service sector Proficiency in Chinese dialects, Malay, Tamil or Hindi is an advantageAbout Ministry Of Social And Family Development:“We are Professionals with Passion for People” The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) develops the “heartware” for Singapore through our policies, community infrastructure, programmes and services.
