Applied Research Engineer | Up to $11k | 12 Months Contract

1. Evaluate, Benchmark and Validate emerging technologies via literature reviews, studying international case studies, engagement with the industry/research community, experimental validation, and technical proofs-of-concepts.
2. Workflow Design and Productionisation: Architect implementable workflows that translate experimental insights into production-grade solutions. This involves working closely with Data Engineers and Software Engineers to integrate these workflows into production-ready products or systems.
3. Consulting, Engagement and Technical Advisory:Recommending solutions that best fit their privacy problem statements. This may involve working directly with agency teams on pilots to apply a technology for use case.
   Collaborate with regulators and policy units to translate technical research into clear, actionable guidance for policy formulation.
4. Research Synthesis and Thought Leadership: Monitor international case studies, benchmarks, and cutting-edge research to continuously update best practices.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Degree (Master’s and above preferred) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field

2. At least 4 years of industry experience in research, AI/ML model development and data science solutioning with an ability to design and execute experiments or technical proofs-of-concept

3. Proficiency with machine learning frameworks and tools (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and programming languages such as Python or R

4. Strong scientific communication and engagement skills

5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

6. A collaborative mindset with the inclination to work with a multi-disciplinary team (across software engineering, data engineering, data science, product management, and policy development)
